On
May 14th, the kids, hubs and I will be participating in the
Take Steps Walk to raise money and awareness for the
Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America.
I walk for
THIS sweet boy....
That's my 9 year old son,
Josh. He has
Crohn's Disease.....he was diagnosed on his 3rd birthday with Ulcerative Colitis, but last Summer, after 2 weeks in the hospital, they changed his diagnosis to Crohn's.
What are these diseases? They are diseases of the
GI tract... basically your immune system gets wonky and tells your body to start the inflammatory response, but never tells it to turn back off. UC is localized to the large intestine, but with Crohn's you can have issues through your entire GI tract.
Josh is your typical crazy boy, most of the time you'd never know anything was different about him. As I write this he is outside with his brother, sister and friends running around insane through the sprinklers (in their clothes of course!). But he has his good days and bad.... some days the pain is horrible... all he wants is to know that
SOMEDAY there might be a cure.....
And so we walk...... and we raise whatever donations we can... in hopes of one day finding a cure.
